Book 3 - WORLD WAR II : 1939 - DECEMBER 1941

The story of mail carried on the Empire and Horseshoe Routes during WWII until the Japanese entered the war in December 1941. These books include a detailed history of the involvement of Australian military personnel in the war and the carriage of mail to and from them. There is much more to the story than the airmail concession available to Australian servicemen. Much of the story is about the difficulty of getting the mail from front line areas to the airline terminal – frequently it is a land, sea/air service.
